The Layout Editor

The Layout tab of the Studio is a visual canvas editor — where you arrange the table by dragging, not by typing coordinates. This page is the lay of the land; the pages it links to go deep on each part. It edits the same layout data the rest of the docs describe, so reach for those when you want the field-level meaning behind a control.

Two modes: Arrange and Setup

A toggle at the top-left switches the whole editor between two jobs:

ModeWhat you do
ArrangePosition and size zones and the board on the felt — the geometry of the table. Every zone is shown at once
SetupBuild the opening sequence — what starts on the table and the authored setup steps that run, top to bottom, before play

Arrange is where you’ll spend most of your time; see arranging zones. Setup is covered in setup mode & the sequence rail.

The header toolbar

The bar across the top carries the mode toggle and, on the right, the editor’s session controls:

Phase legendIn Arrange, a colour key of your phases. Hover an entry to focus that phase and dim the others — a quick way to see which zones belong to a staged layout

Undo / RedoStep through your edits — ⌘Z and ⌘⇧Z
ResetDiscard unsaved changes and revert to the last saved layout
Save layoutCommit your changes

The editor validates as you go and previews every change live, so what you see on the canvas is what players will get.

The three panels

Below the toolbar the editor is a three-column workspace:

  • Left — the browser. A navigator listing everything in the game by name: components grouped by kind (Cards, Tokens, Pieces, Dice), zones grouped by area (Player Area, Player Hand, Shared), and a Table entry. Rows are collapsible cards with a search box and [+] add chips; click a row to select and edit it, or ⌘/Shift-click components to multi-select.
  • Centre — the canvas. The felt, drawn to scale. Click to select, drag to move, and use the handles to resize and rotate. See arranging zones on the felt.
  • Right — the inspector. Everything you can edit about the current selection. Its contents change with what’s selected — a zone, a component, a deck, the table, or a setup step. See the inspector panel. A collapsible Gestures & shortcuts reference sits at its foot.

On a narrow screen the side panels and edge trays collapse into slide-over drawers (toggled by chips over the felt) so the canvas keeps the full width.
